Full-leaves waving in vibrant young green splendor under true blue sky. Eye, enwrapped in cool shades of room shadows, wet hair drying slowly. Summer, ’07. A wandering tune, folding into itself like waves, makes its way through my day dreaming, through motions of my right hand and takes shape as scribbles on an open page of my unassuming notebook. My red camera records the fleeting sounds.
Ditty magic is captured and replayed to widening eyes and racing heartrhymes. “…..?????!!!!!” Sounds are interpreted by the context of my being. Excitement flows. Truths unfold through interpretations unforetold. Towala, towala. Mélanguage. Words make meanings make words. You are your wings… I rush to share with my compadre Itsa and conmadre Asuka. You are your light… Words take flight. You are your God. You are your water, your source. Be free in who you are. Eternity now. Life eternal… Towala.
Unfolding like a flower in bloom, Towala came to fruition in airs of ripe ritual. It continues to unveil itself each time it carries through my lungs and through the winds, opening ceremonies and stirring curiosity and inspiration. Towala was inaugurated to the harmonic echoes of a double flute in a school performance of dance and music before 400 elementary and junior high students in New Mexico. Later on, it was sung at an epic symposium on the Day of the Corn, in honor of human rights and the divine feminine. There, Flordemayo, estimada curandera espiritu, shared with me that Towala was a song in sacred language.
We are sacred language. Towala is dedicated to all the loving, living, and the dreaming.
TOWA* ~ eternity, forever (Japanese)
LA* ~ There, here, now (Fran-Spanish)
/or/ japan-ish-ize it and it can mean "Eternify-it" (it = life, this, now). The song begins to make sense though a combination of Japanglish, Fran-Span-Arabic Port-afied Aju-go.
